Country music fans are in for a treat this weekend, as Emo hosts the Rednecks and Rhinestones festival from Friday July 18 to Sunday July 20.
The festival will feature music from Crystal Swing and Mid Life Crisis on Friday evening. Saturday sees Johnny Cash tribute Get Rhythm, Louise Morrissey, and Michael English take to the stage. Sunday will have music from the afternoon onwards with Rusty Springs, The Ultimate Garth Brooks Experience, Johnny Cash tribute Walk the Line, and Riley and the Moonrockers rockabilly band.
The festival launches at 8pm on Friday in the Gatehouse Bar in Emo, where music will take place all weekend. There is fancy dress on Friday with spot prizes.
From 12pm on Saturday there will be a static display of Goldwing Motorbikes and from 3pm there will be a BBQ, with music kicking off from 5pm. Sunday sees a midday start as well with food and a fun fair, vintage tractors, Goldwing motorbikes, and American vintage and classic car run, as well as a wild west horse show from Fossey Mountain Springs Ranch.
All proceeds go to the Cuisle Centre and Emo GAA club, and tickets are €10 for one day and €20 for the weekend.
