Nuala Hayes is returning to the county to take up a short residency at the Arthouse in Stradbally, 12 years after she created a collection of Audio CD’s and a Video. This time she intends to compile a book of Laois Folktale for the History Press.

Nuala explains: “This will be part of the Folktales of Ireland series, which is proving very popular. I hope to follow on then with Folktales of Offaly. The residency at Stradbally will allow me to revisit some of the people and places which featured in the audio CD’s, now stored in the local library.”

To help with this, residents from Stradbally and the surrounding areas are invited to an informal morning of sharing memories, photographs and stories of local landscape, places and people in the Arthouse in Stradbally.

Entitled “Homeplace”, the workshop will take place on Friday, December 5 from 11am to 1pm. The event is free, but book a place by calling the Arthouse on 057-8641740.
