LOCAL musicians from Mountmellick have come together to help raise funds for a very worthy cause - the Cuisle Centre. Bands 22nd State, Honest Can and other local acts will be performing at a fundraising gig in the Druid Inn in Mountmellick on Sunday August 5 from 8.30pm.
Over the past few years over €9,000 has been raised for this great cause and all support would be greatly appreciated. Organisers ahve said that even if people cant go on the night all donations would be gratefully accepted. There will also be a raffle on the night with all prizes donated by local shops.
22nd state are a classic rock act formed in 2010 who specialise in twin lead harmony guitars with powerful vocals. The group consists of five talented musicians from Laois and Kildare and music fans can expect to hear the likes of Thin Lizzy, Pearl Jam, The Police and Pink Floyd amongst others. Their shows are full of energy and are definitely worth catching.
With powerfull lead vocals and tight rythm section Honest Can have quickly become one of the best live acts to catch in recent years. Playing a collection of modern songs with an acoustic taste, this band is one of the best three piece acoustic outfits in the area. This Mountmellick trio have established themseleves with classic covers of bands like The Temper Trap, Adele and Ocean Colour Scene to name just a few, and as those who have seen them will testify, they guarantee a rocking night out.
