THE Dunamaise Arts Centre will be the host for the highly acclaimed show Fruitcake starring the outstanding actress Mary McEvoy on Thursday October 11 for two shows at 1pm and 8pm, with the latter show being part of a ladies event.
Nana Casey teaches Della many things in life, like ‘how to bake the perfect Fruitcake.’ As Della Dolan demonstrates just how to do that, she gets caught up in provoking memories to give a fascinating account of her chequered upbringing on a farm in rural Ireland. Noggin Theatre Company is delighted to present this one woman show which takes you on an emotional rollercoaster that reinforces the gift of life for all its surprises.
The evening show will be part of a ladies event at the arts centre which will feature various pop up shops from Cakes n Bakes, Captain Tortue French designer fashion and more. Caffe Latte will also be open on the night for refreshments.
Commissioned by Meath County Council Arts Office for Bealtaine Festival 2010 Fruitcake toured Meath, Cavan and Louth. Bealtaine Festival produced and toured Fruitcake to 25 venues nationally from Waterford to Donegal, Inis Oirr to Dublin for the festival 2011. It has been touring to a number of theatre venues nationally in 2012 and it never fails to have the audience laughing, crying and raving about it afterwards. Tickets for Fruitcake are priced at €15 for the evening show and €10 for the matinee show. For more information or tickets contact the box office Tel: 057 8663355.
