There was success for a Leinster musical ensemble recently, when The Academy Chamber Choir Tullamore proudly won third place in in the North Wales Choral Festival.
The much decorated choir gave a lively rendition of Riu Riu Chiu followed by the serenity of Suantraí ár Slánaitheora, beautifully lead by soloist Irene Wallace. The pinnacle of the contest was the mixed choir competition which pitched 13 professional and amateur choirs against one another. The judges confirmed that it was a well-chosen repertoire by the choir’s conductor Ciarán Brady and that the bar was indeed set high.
The choir will be presenting their annual carol service with Moate’s Youth Choir at St Patrick’s Church, Moate, on December 15 at 6pm. This is a great occasion to hear this local, successful choir.
