Local musican composes ‘The Brittas Mass’

Clonaslee man Tom Conroy has composed music for a new mass setting which he has titled ‘The Brittas Mass’.

Clonaslee man Tom Conroy has composed music for a new mass setting which he has titled ‘The Brittas Mass’.

The mass will be performed during a live broadcast on RTÉ One on Sunday, July 21 at 11am.

This year marks the Bi-Centenary anniversary year of St Manman’s church in Clonaslee, which was built in 1813. To celebrate, there have been events going on throughout the year, including a concert on May 24 in which Tom was heavily involved. The RTÉ mass will be broadcast live from the church and all are welcome to come along to join in the celebration.

The local Clonaslee Church Choir will be performing the music on the day under the direction of Tom, along with special guest soloists and instrumentalists from Tipperary, Portlaoise, Portarlington, Killenard, and Kilkenny.

Brittas is the name of the area in Clonaslee which is well known for its beautiful walks in Brittas Woods, the peaceful and surroundings of Brittas Lake, and the historic Brittas Castle
