FANS of Status Quo will be delighted to hear that Quoday is coming back to Bar Habana in a matter of weeks. Taking place on Friday April 19 and Saturday April 20, this is the fifth year of the popular festival.

There will be live music by Scottish tribute band Backwater who are returning to the festival for the second time. Backwater were formed in 2008 by four experienced live musicians and are Scotland’s premier Status Quo tribute band. They played their first gig in June 2009, where a short set was well received by an appreciative audience. The group were then asked to open the Scottish Status Quo convention in 2010.

Continually striving to hone their early 70’s “Frantic Four” Quo sound and, by expanding their repetoire, Backwater have now become a top Quo tribute within Scotland. In 2013, Backwater welcomed a new member to the band, Drew Simpson, after the departure of Tommy, due to circumstances outwith the bands control, who will now takeover as the bands new bass guitarist and an additional vocalist.

Doors for the event will open at 6pm each evening with Quo music playing through the speakers as well as DVD performances. A recent Hammersmith Appolo gig performed by the original band members John Colgan, Alan Lancaster, Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt will also be shown at the festival.

There will be no cover charge on either night. For those travelling to the gigs from elsewhere, the Maldron Hotel are offering special rates for Quo fans, once they mention Quofest when booking.
