Portlaoise based musician James O’ Connor has recently released his newsest offering entitled ‘Behind The Scenes’, and it is a treat for the senses. A local effort, the album features some Laois musicians and was recorded at Golden Egg studios, based just outside Portlaoise, where James worked with Ollie Plunkett and Brian O’ Mahoney.
James’ album also features the work of honourary Laois person and accomplished photographer Ciara Drennan as well as the immensely talented Star Ink Tattoo based artist Pascal Kenna.
As well as the newer tracks, there are a couple of old favourites which have been reworked for the album.
James’ songwriting is from the heart, honest, raw and relatable, and his melodies take the listener on a journey throughout the course of the album. Penned over the past couple of years, this collection of songs show maturity and growth, as well as the humble nature of their creator. James is a shining star whose light shines bright on this newest release.
The magic of James’ album translates very well into his live performances, and James will be back to play Kavanaghs later in the summer, keep reading Stage Left for more.
