THE Dunamaise Arts Centre last week announced highly acclaimed musician Michael English as its very first ambassador.

Michael’s role will be to help promote the arts locally and to highlight the work carried out at the arts centre. This popular Kildare singer is the centre’s first ambassador, but plans are afoot to appoint two more ambassadors in the coming months.

The Castledermot-born composer, singer and songwriter has become a seasoned professional in the music business, since releasing his first album in 1997. His popularity should raise the profile of the Dunamaise and help turn the centre’s finances around.

Michael was not present at last week’s stakeholders meeting due to illness, but chairman of the board of management, Mr Louis Brennan revealed that the singer is putting on two free shows in the Dunamaise to raise funds for the centre.
