The year has started very well with a very enthusiastic committee. They promise to have a packed year with an exhibition in the arts centre and visit from nationally renowned nature photographer Mick Brown included in their events. Their monthly themes and varied meetings continue to run in the Parish Centre Portlaoise each Wednesday at 8pm. Some of the club’s members recently photographed the Laois cycling club 100km/45km event, and as well as this, a number of members had photographs selected for the national finals of the printed and projected individual competition. Those that came in the top three were awarded with certificates of merit. Local photographer John Dunne won best overall picture. Finals take place in Athlone on February 23 and 24.
