THE Nolan family recently opened their gallery in Killenard which is currently showing work from nine artists. On its opening night the gallery attracted a large crowd and the current work there will be on display for the next few weeks.

At the moment the work on display is mixed media including photography, sculpture and painting in a wide variety of styles. Artists exhibiting include Petra Moll who works in mixed media, pyrographer Pat Buckley, painters Anne Blanc, Cristina Larios, Kathleen Guilfoyle Mulligan, Aileen Kavanagh and Patricia Bennett, photographer Aisling Weir, and painter and sculptor George Nolan. George whose family run the gallery has been an artist for many years, working mainly with wood and bog oak. He has long wanted to have a gallery space to give artists - both upcoming and established - a place to show their work in the area.

George said that after moving from Dublin down to Port 15 years ago, he wanted to give something back to Port. George is open to being approached by any artists who can contact him by phone at 087 942 4289 or 057 86 40020, or by email at georgenolan16@hotmail.com. The gallery is open on Thursdays and Fridays from 11am to 7pm, on Saturdays from 12pm to 6pm and Sundays from 2pm to 6pm.
