Local hospitality sector supports 3,196 jobs and €67m in wages

The drinks and hospitality sector in Laois supports 3,196 jobs and a wages contribution of €67m.

That's the data contained in an employment trail map, launched by the Support Your Local campaign which seeks to highlight the job and wage contribution of the drinks and hospitality industry in Ireland.

More than 204,000 people rely on the drinks and hospitality sector for employment.

The booklet highlights the wage and jobs contribution of the industry in each constituency in Ireland, showcasing the regional spread of the industry’s economic contribution.

The data is based on research from economist Tony Foley and was launched at an employment roundtable discussion in Heineken Cork which explored how growth in the drinks and hospitality industry could be fostered to support job creation across Ireland.

The panel consisted of Tony Foley, economist DCU, Conor Healy, Cork Chamber CEO, and Sean McCarthy, Cork publican.

The discussion was facilitated by Tom MacSweeney.
