The number of new houses being built in Laois dropped in the first 5 months of 2013, according to the Construction Industry Federation (CIF).
There has been a 14% decrease in new house starts, with 24 units being started this year. The Laois experience was different to most of the major urban areas. Of the new units started in Laois, 100% were once off, individual builds.
House completions dropped by A total of 68 houses.
