A newly revamped website to promote events and businesses in Portarlington was recently launched by Portarlington Community Development Association (PCDA).
PCDA chairperson Margaret Guijt-Lalor said the idea behind the ambitious website is to provide a boost for businesses starting out who mightn’t be able to get their own website up and running. “The PCDA is putting the whole thing together,” she said. She added businesses can then receive their own domain and code, allowing them to set up their website on the page. Businesses can have a page on the website and then a link to their own website.
“The new and improved website is much more interactive with the capacity for every business, club and organisation in our community to claim their space and
use it as a tool to promote and inform us all of their business, and special offers. If you would like to use the site for your business, please go to the website and follow the simple steps to register,” Ms Guijt-Lawlor said.
“We will be catering for the diaspora and will have details about day to day events in Portarlington,” she added. At the launch in the newly revamped Orchard Hotel a large gathering attended, including Fr Noonan PP, Ann Goodwin, Laois Partnership and Cllrs Eddie Fitzpatrick and Aidan Mullins. Bord na Móna was represented by Colm O’Gogain. The company donated a piece of property to the PCDA and gave an update on the proposed Garryhinch reservoir and water eco-tourism development.
