Farm land in Laois demanded a higher price that land sold in Kilkenny and Wexford in recent weeks.
Castlecomer-based auctioneer Joe Coogan sold agricultural land in three different counties, Laois, Kilkenny and Wexford in the last
number of weeks.
A 69.5 acre farm at Ballacolla, Co. Laois sold for €816,000, a portion of this land worked out at €15,500 per acre while the remainder worked out in the region of €11,000 per acre, this land had road frontage and is of top quality with a majority presently in tillage.
Just outside Ballyragget, Co. Kilkenny, 42 acres sold at auction for a total of €470,000. This land is top quality but had no road frontage, only laneway access to public road, this land averaged at €11,190 per acre.
Both auctions were conducted at the Auction Room, Ballycomey House, Castlecomer with a large attendance at each auction.
Meanwhile the third auction was lands in Oulart, Co. Wexford, top quality agricultural land with only a right away to public road, this land sold for €11,500 per acre, the auction was held in Wexford.
The three auctions were very brisk with plenty of bidders including solicitors, auctioneers acting on behalf of clients with a good number of farmers bidding at all three auctions were sold under the fall of the hammer.
