Laois hoteliers say the retention of the 9% tourism VAT rate will help to create jobs in rural areas.

Matt O’Connor, branch chair, Laois IHF says that the reduced VAT rate has been enormously successful to date.

“This will continue to have benefits for increased employment, particularly in rural regions.”

Mr O’Connor said 90% of hotels and guesthouses believe the measure would enable them to increase jobs into 2014.
