A total of 110 people are employed by Laois Partnership on the Tús back to work scheme. The local people are working in a variety of roles from charity shop assistants to helping sports groups.
Those involved were long term unemployed but the scheme allows them to get work placements of 19.5 hours a week in places such as the Dunamaise Theatre.
Under the programme, participants are employed by Laois Partnership which mentors, trains and provides work placements. Some people have found jobs as a result.
