Portlaoise Macra celebrate big year

PORTLAOISE Macra recently held their AGM in the Macra Hall. Outgoing chairperson, John Delaney, congratulated everyone on a successful year while Fiona Rice gave an account of the events that took place, including the opening of the newly refurbished hall which coincided with the celebration of the club’s 60th anniversary.

President Ann Marie Ging had the pleasure of presenting John Delaney with the club person of the year award for his dedication to the club, the huge effort he put into the hall’s refurbishment and his work as chairperson of the club for the past two years.

The election of officers was as follows: president Ann Marie Ging, vice-president John Delaney, chairperson Thomas Cushen, vice-chairperson Maria Mulhall, secretary Andrew Kelly, assistant secretary Paddy Delaney, treasurer James Luttrell, assistant treasurer Fiona Rice, PRO Siobhán Walsh, assistant PRO Nora Cushen, competitions officers Ann Marie Ging and Thomas Cushen, development officer Maria Mulhall, arts officer Anna Rowney, travel officer Paddy Delaney.
