The Kingfisher Restaurant in Portlaoise has been nominated for three county awards in the upcoming Irish Restaurant Awards for 2012.
Under the new management of Gul Badshaw, The Kingfisher has been nominated for the Best Customer Service in the county, Best Restaurant in the county and best casual dining in the county.
Mr Badshaw, who recently took over the popular eaterie is hoping for success when the winners are announced next Monday.
“We are very proud to be nominated and we look forward to welcoming everyone to the restaurant in the future,” he said.
There are seven awards in the Primary Category and 15 awards in the Industry Category. Each category will have a county winner, regional winner and all Ireland winner. The county winners have been announced at regional award ceremonies in the run up to the awards. Already the awards for Connaught, Ulster and Munster have been announced and the winners in Leinster will be announced next week.
The main event will take place in the Burlington Hotel, Dublin on May 14. Guests at the main event are treated to a five course menu prepared by the winning Chefs in each of the five regions from the year before.
