With a degree in retail business and a love of baking from a very young age, Kelly decided to bite the bullet and started her own business in 2012, setting up a small café selling her tasty cakes, baked from scratch in-store in a small oven using only the best ingredients such as Irish butter and free range local eggs.

Her cakes became so popular that before long Kelly had to expand and open a commercial bakery close to the café to cope with the demand.

Now with 4 employees, Kelly Lou Cakes produces mouth-watering cakes for all occasions such as Weddings, Birthdays, Christenings, Confirmations and Communions. Kelly’s menu is influenced by the fabulous bakeries she visited in America and London. Along with her very popular celebration cakes and cupcakes, Kelly also produces such delights as whoopie pies, cookies, macarons and cake pops.

Kelly’s wedding cakes are individually designed to suit each couple’s personality, theme and budget. Each wedding cake is unique, and Kelly makes a point of not

overbooking wedding dates so that she can devote proper attention to each cake. Her cakes have been featured in several leading Irish bridal magazines and websites and

she recently appeared on the TV programme Nationwide.

Along with the traditional iced wedding cakes, popular alternative options include soft-iced buttercream cakes, “naked cakes” (sponge cakes with no icing on the outside) mini cupcakes for the reception, cupcake towers or whole dessert tables where the guests can help themselves to a larger selection of cakes and sweet treats.

Whatever your idea for your big day, Kelly is happy to meet and discuss it with you.

2015 is already proving to be a busy year and her diary is filling up quickly. She advises couples to book their date at least 9 months before the wedding date if possible. The final design and flavours can be decided a few weeks before the big day.
