After many months of preparation the one local one stop shop for business will open in Laois next week.
The County and City Enterprise Boards are being dissolved from the April 15 to be replaced by Local Enterprise Offices (LEOs). The LEOs are a new initiative to support local economies and entrepreneurship.
It is claimed that the LEO will build on the work previously done by Laois County Enterprise Board and will be extended to assist more people setting up and growing businesses.
The LEO is now within the remit of Laois County Council. The main services to be provided include business information and advisory services, enterprise support services, entrepreneurship support services and local enterprise development services.
“The LEO will be the ‘first stop shop’ for all Government supports for anyone who wants to start or expand their business and create jobs within the county. It will be the front line in delivering business growth and jobs, providing direct support and working with all the key stakeholders, public agencies and the private sector to support those with a good business idea and strengthen the enterprise sector in the county,” said a statement.
The Laois LEO will be based at the Portlaoise Enterprise Centre, Clonminam Business Park in Portlaoise which was also the base for Laois Enterprise.
