Portlaoise cash and carry jobs

A NEW cash and carry outlet is set to open at Lismard Business Park in Portlaoise, creating up to 20 new jobs locally.

Lismard Properties, owned by Don and Donal Morrissey, applied to Laois County Council in May, for permission to change the use of six units in their business park on the Timahoe Road. The proposal is to change the use of unit 10 from a showroom and units 11 - 15 from light industrial use to a cash and carry wholesale warehouse, including ancillary office and staff facilities.

The application also provides for the extension of the building to provide an additional 579 squared meters of wholesale warehouse floorspace, accommodating a goods in area. The total floor area of the proposed wholesale warehouse unit will be 2,918.5 squared meters.

The proposal includes external and internal alterations to the building, the partial demoliton and extension of the existing ESB sub-station and switch room and associated signs. T

here will also be an alteration to the existing car parking arrangement resulting in the provision of four additional car parking spaces.

The new cash and carry will open 7am to 7pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, with an 8pm finish on Thursday and a 1pm closing time on Saturday and it is envisaged that 20 employees will be needed.

Architect for the development is Andrew Gee and conditional approval has recently been given by the county council.
