Retail group to rate big three Laois towns

Retail Excellence Ireland (REI) is calling on people in Laois and across Ireland to rate their local town and city and have their say as to what makes a great town.

REI will send a team of researchers out to Portlaoise, Portarlington and Mountmellick, and 100 big towns and cities, to gauge how both citizens and business owners feel their local town or city is performing. People can also provide feedback by visiting the REI website (www.retailexcellence.ie ) and completing a very brief survey.

David Fitzsimons is the Chief Executive Officer of Retail Excellence Ireland.

“REI is committed to continuing to support and enhance the consumer retail experience by developing initiatives, such as this, and promote a vibrant and competitive world class retail industry in Ireland. I encourage everyone to get involved and complete this survey so the feedback can be used to rank Ireland’s Top100 Towns and Cities and provide guidance as to what makes a town great,” he said.

The measurement of town management performance is the second phase of the REI Town and City Management Framework, launched in July to help revitalise towns and cities across Ireland.

REI says it will publish the findings, disseminate best town management practice and promote such practice.
