Deaths in Laois - December 15, 2016

Denis Carroll - Mountrath

The death took place on Wednesday, December 14 of Denis Carroll of Shannon Road, Mountrath. 

A former Peace Commissioner, Mr Carroll died at the Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise, surrounded by his family. Deeply regretted by his wife Mary, children - John, Richard, Mary, Denise, Ailish and Brendan, grandchildren, great-grandchild, sister Maria, brother Joe, extended family, relatives and friends.

Reposing at his home on Thursday, with Rosary at 9pm. Removal on Friday evening at 5.30pm to St. Fintan's Church Mountrath, arriving at 6pm. Requiem Mass on Saturday morning at 11am, followed by Burial in St. Fintan's Cemetery Mountrath.
 

Patrick Fox - Roscrea and Errill

The death took place on Monday, December 12 of Patrick Fox of 17 Copperbeach View, Roscrea, and formerly of Castlefleming, Errill.

Reposing in Maher's Funeral home, Roscrea on Wednesday evening from 6pm with rosary at 8pm. Removal on Thursday morning at 11.30am arriving in St. Cronan's Church, Roscrea for Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
 
 John P. Murphy - London, Cork and Portarlington

The death has occurred of John P. Murphy of London and Gurranabraher Avenue, Cork City and formerly of Treascon, Portarlington. Late of British Airways.

Funeral Mass in St Michael's Church, Portarlington this  Wednesday at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in St Michael's Cemetery, Portarlington. 
 
Denis Molloy - Portlaoise

The death took place on Monday, December 12 of Denis Joseph Molloy of Cullenagh, Portlaoise. 

Deeply regretted by his wife Kathleen, family Denise, Elizabeth, Alan and Serena, brothers, sister, grandchildren, extended family, relatives and friends.

Reposing at his residence on Tuesday from 6pm with Rosary at 9pm. Reposing at his residence on Wednesday from 3pm with Rosary at 9pm. Removal on Thursday arriving SS Peter and Paul's Church, Portlaoise for Requeim Mass at 12 noon. Funeral afterwards to SS Peter and Paul's Cemetery. 

Elizabeth O'Kelly - Stradbally and Emo

The death took place on Sunday, December 11 of Elizabeth O'Kelly of Market Square, and formerly  Emo Court.

Peacefully in her 93rd year. Reposing was at her residence on Monday. Removal took place on Tuesday morning to the Church of the Sacred Heart, Stradbally for 11am Funeral Mass. Burial took place afterwards in Moyglare Cemetery, Maynooth.

Alice Thompson - Mountmellick and Mountrath

The death took place on Saturday, December 10 of Alice Thompson (née Moore) of Emmett Street, Mountmellick and formerly Fathana, Mountrath.

At St. Vincent's Hospital Mountmellick. Wife of the late Martin Thompson and relict of the late John McGinley, Glencolumkille, Co. Donegal, predeceased by her son Fintan, daughter Maureen (Santry) and grandson Barry.

Deeply regretted by her daughter Bernie, sons Joe and Pat, daughters-in-law, son-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, extended family, relatives and friends.

Reposing was at Burke's Funeral Home Mountrathon Sunday evening. Removal takes place on Monday morning to St. Fintan's Church Mountrath, for Funeral Mass at 11am, followed by burial in St. Fintan's Cemetery, Mountrath.

Deirdre Conroy - Portlaoise

The death took place on Friday, December 9 of Deirdre (DC) Conroy (O'Connor) of Kilminchy Close, Portlaoise.

Deeply regretted by her daughter Kate, Martin O'Connor, her mother Mary, sister Margaret, brothers Ciaran and Kevin, sisters-in-law, niece, nephews, extended family, relatives and friends.

Reposing was at her mother's home on the Ridge Road, Portlaoise, on Saturday. Removal took place on Sunday morning  to SS Peter & Paul's church for 12. 30pm Requiem Mass. Burial took place afterwards in SS Peter & Paul's Cemetery.

Elizabeth Maher - Clonad

The death took place on Friday, December 9 of Elizabeth (Eileen) Maher (née Lalor) of Clonad, Portlaoise. 

In the care of the ICU staff, medical and nursing staff Surgical ward Midland Regional Hospital, Portlaoise. Peacefully after a short illness. Beloved wife of John Joe and mother to Mary. Deeply regretted by her husband, daughter, sister and son in law John.

Reposing was at her residence on Saturday evening. Removal took place on Sunday morning to St. Fintan's Church for 11am Requiem Mass. Burial took place afterwards in St. Fintan's Cemetery, Raheen. 

Claire O'Byrne - Portarlington and Kildare

The death took place on Friday, December 9of Clare O'Byrne (née Brophy) of Station Road, Portarlington and formerly Ballyshannon,  Suncroft, Co Kildare.

Suddenly. Deeply regretted by her husband John, family Brendan, Aine, Brian and Gearoid, daughters-in-law Marian and Philomena, grandchildren Ane, Aimee and Ciara, brother, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Linda Walsh - Portlaoise

The death took place on Friday, December 9 of Linda Walsh of Lakeglen, Portlaoise. 

Peacefully surrounded by her sisters Mary and Ann. In the loving of the staff of Kilminchy Lodge Nursing Home. Deeply regretted by her family, brothers John, Phillip and Tony, sisters Mary and Ann, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Reposing was at Lakeglen on Saturday. Requiem Mass took place in SS Peter and Pauls’ Church on Sunday at 11.15 am followed by burial in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Portlaoise.
