A collection of short stories written by the Laois VEC Adult Learning Creative Writing Class was launched recently by poet and publisher Pat Boran, at the Dunamaise Arts Centre.

Under the tutelage of Denise Dunne, the creative writing group explored and developed their imaginations and creativity through a series of weekly writing workshops. Their shared memories, insights, opinions and beliefs make very rich reading in this collection. Denise wished all the students well.

“I hope that your writing continues to take you on voyages of self-discovery,” she said.

Pat Boran praised the hard work of the group and spoke about the talent of each of the seven participants and how he enjoyed reading their pieces.

He complimented them on their collection of poems and stories entitled, ‘Imagination Returned’, a title he felt quite fitting for the collection.

The audience were treated to readings from some of the budding writers and received warm applause and plenty of praise from all present.

Joe Cunningham, Adult Education Officer, Laois VEC, praised their tutor Denise Dunne for her hard work and complimented the Adult Learning Centre on their selection of courses on offer to adults returning to education.

Anne O Keefe, CEO Laois VEC also praised the hard work and congratulated all involved.
