Portlaoise is the setting for the launch of the first Irish Wildlife Trust (IWT) Laois/Offaly Branch later this month .
The IWT aims to promote the natural history of the two counties whilst supporting the ongoing work of the Irish Wildlife Trust. It also wants to celebrate the animals and landscapes found in the Laois and Offaly.
The group plans to organise a calendar of events including walks, talks, educational events and related projects.
Anyone interested is invited to the first meeting on Wednesday, November 20 at 7.30pm in The Mill Centre off Green Mill Lane.
Fintan Kelly will be on hand from IWT HQ to give us a talk titled “TB or Not TB” on the ongoing Badger cull campaign. A committee will also be elected and the aims and objectives will be discussed.
The Mill Centre is located near Dunnes Stores on the link road between the Mountmellick Rd and the Ridge Rd. Park at Dunnes.
