From Portlaoise to Prague

LOCAL singer songwriter Dave Morrissey will be travelling to Prague for the ‘Caffreys Irish Music Festival’ running from March 15 to March 18 as a double headliner with Aslan.

LOCAL singer songwriter Dave Morrissey will be travelling to Prague for the ‘Caffreys Irish Music Festival’ running from March 15 to March 18 as a double headliner with Aslan.

The festival kicks off with a gig in Caffreys bar in the city centre on March 15 where Dave introduces his new band ‘Studio 65’ to the Czech audiences followed by the big gig on March 16 in the Akropolis Palace.

Paddys day then kicks off on the Old Town Square in the city centre where the music begins at 11am on the open air stage featuring many Irish and Czech traditional acts and builds up to the evening concert featuring Dave Morrissey and The Studio 65 Band and Aslan.

Dave’s new band ‘Studio 65’ was formed only recently for the festival but the band plan to do a local gig in Bar Habana on Sunday March 11, before flying out to Prague. Many Portlaoise locals will recognise some of the band members consisting of Frank McNally on bass, Adrian Robinson on guitar and Alan Ryan on the drums along with Dave’s own previous band members,Omar Mahfoud on guitar and Maria O’Regan on backing vocals.

Audiences here can expect to hear and see alot of this lineup throughout the summer at festivals and venues accross Ireland also. A new summer single is also being planned. Those who would like to join the party and come along to the festival can contact Dave through his Facebook page for details.
