Unlucky fisherman gets a bite, and a 75 minute marriage

A native lost his hand when he trailed it over the side of his boat travelling along the river Amazon, and it was devoured by ferocious fish before he could take it from the water. The local fish - piranha - are smaller than goldfish but are so monstrous that they can strip an ox to its bones in just a few minutes.

The writer of an interesting article in a local evening paper says that some kind of rings are unlucky. A henpecked acquaintance of ours declares that it may be wedding rings which are indicated.

A 75-minute marriage has been reported from Copenhagen. At the wedding reception, it is said the bride upset some soup on her husband… this led to blows… and the husband raced back to the registry office and had the marriage annulled.

16,000 tramps recently prepared a gift for the King of Paris’ visit. The gift is a baked clay statuette representing two tramps on a bench, and strict instructions were given by the donors that it should be given to the King in person.

A model of Solomon’s Temple has taken a Jewish rabbi six years to complete, and it will leave Jerusalem to be shown in the United States at next year’s World Fair.
