The biggest shock of the weekend was reserved for the second game on the Saturday evening double header as Graiguecullen’s lofty championship ambitions received a severe dent as a glorious display from Stradbally put them back in serious contention.

Stradbally 0-16

Graiguecullen 1-10

This was the best performance from Stradbally for a long, long time and after a shaky start they came back to not just rattle the young pretenders but rocked them to the core and left them Paul Bealins team with serious questions as to their future ambitions.

Stradbally were not seen as championship contenders at the start of the year and a far from impressive league campaign did little to enhance their prospects but after two rounds of the championship and this 60 minutes display, they now look a formidable side under Eamon Delaney.

He not only has put back a bit of steel in the team but they played magnificent football as well as showing oodles of heart, guts and fierce determination.
