Ballylinan 2-10

St Joseph’s 0-18

After five straight defeats, St. Josephs must have been lacking confidence coming into the tie but there was little signs of that in the opening five minutes as they flew out of the blocks to nab the first three points of the game.

They had their noses in front throughout but ith five minutes left on the clock a long ball in was batted down by Kevin Campion. The defender had done a fine job since being moved back to curtail Gary Walsh midway through the first half but this time Walsh gave him the slip to gather the loose ball and round Tommy Knowles to tap home into the empty net.

Another super long-range score from Matty Campion put a goal in it as the game entered injury time and when Gary Walsh blasted his last-minute free over the bar instead of under it the game was up and a relieved St. Joseph’s side took the spoils.
