Clough-Ballacolla made it two wins from two as they overcame a gritty Abbeyleix on home soil on Saturday evening.
ACHL Division 1
Willie Hyland was the chief tormentor of the visitors defence with a superb personal haul of 1-12 including some outstanding long-range scores from all over the park and despite their best efforts Abbeyleix were unable to stay in touch with the hosts.
Willy Dunphy set the tone with a goal from his side’s first attack but it was a run of five points without reply in the final few minutes before half-time which handed them a six point lead at the interval.
Fitzpatrick’s point in the fifth minute of the second-half would be Abbeyleix’s last score for a full twenty minutes, by which time a rampant Ballacolla had racked up a further 3-7 to leave the result beyond all doubt.
