Two out of three just fine for Clough Ballacolla

It wasn’t easy, and at times it wasn’t pretty, but Clough-Ballacolla edged out Portlaoise to claim their second Laois SHC title in three years at a windswept O’Moore Park on Sunday afternoon.

It wasn’t easy, and at times it wasn’t pretty, but Clough-Ballacolla edged out Portlaoise to claim their second Laois SHC title in three years at a windswept O’Moore Park on Sunday afternoon.

Clough-Ballacolla 1-10

Portlaoise 0-11

Coming into the game as favourites, Clough-Ballacolla were under pressure to produce the kind of swashbuckling display which had been the hallmark of their run to the final. Portlaoise, a respecter of no reputation, heaped further pressure on them with a performance full of the battling qualities honed on their run to four finals in five years.

It was very nearly enough to cause an upset, but in the end it was Ballacolla’s ability to keep their noses ever so slightly in front which saw them fall over the finish line.
