LAOIS advanced to the third round of the All Ireland Qualifiers after they comfortably saw off Monaghan by 2-12 to 0-12 in O’Moore Park on Sunday.
All Ireland SFC Qualifiers
Laois put in arguably their best performance of the season to record a pivotal win which shoulod give them a much needed confidence boost ahead of the next round.
Laois started well positively and scored the first two points but as they retreated into a defensive formation, Monaghan hit back scoring the next five leaving Laois fans fearing the worst.
However Laois were rampant in the final 15 minutes of the first-half adding 2-5 to just three points in reply.
Colm Kenny and the hugely impressive Brendan Quigley were the goal scorers as Laois pressed forward agressively and were rewarded with a five point half time lead.
In the second-half Laois shut up shop and restricted a poorly organised Monaghan side to just four further points.
Laois added five to their tally and ran out fully deserved six point winners on the day.
