Laois’ hopes of a first Leinster MHC title since 1964 were dashed in Croke Park on Sunday by a clinical Kilkenny side that ran out 13 point winners.
Laois came into the game with high hopes after a good win in the semi-finals over Wexford, but they never looked like producing that form here.
Kilkenny struck for a goal in the fourth minute, and never really looked back from there. Despite first half scores from Aidan Corby (2), Ciaran McEvoy, Joe Campion and Darragh Cripps, Laois trailed 1-11 to 0-5 at half time.
With Alan Murphy in excellent form for Kilkenny, they cruised home in the end.
