The Portlaoise juggernaut powers on. Graiguecullen put up a stiff challenge to the five-in-a-row seeking outfit, but despite their best efforts, Portlaoise are just too used to winning. They weren’t overly impressive during Sunday night’s league final in O’Moore Park, but in the end they did everything they needed to do to get over the line.
In doing so, they claimed their fourth ACFL Division 1 title in five years, giving the rest of the county a reminder, if it were needed, that they mean business once again this year.
They saw off Graiguecullen’s challenge here despite starting without a number of what would be considered their first choice fifteen. The team which started on Sunday night was missing eight players from the side which claimed the SFC title back in October of last year, and with such strength in depth, it’s hard to see any team getting close to them in the SFC.
