Laois will be without Brian Campion for their entire Division 1 campaign as the Rathdowney-Errill man will be out for the next three months through injury.

Campion has been struggling with a stress fracture to the pelvis for some time now, and he has eventually had to take time out to allow the injury to heal. He has not been named on the panel of 32 players for the league, but he will re-join the squad when he return to fitness.

Also missing is Shane Dollard, who has injured discs in his back and, like Campion, he will return to the panel when his injury troubles have cleared up. The only other player on the long-term injury list is Shanahoe defender Brian Guilfoyle, and he faces an unspecified spell on the sidelines as he is currently suffering with glandular fever.

The panel will remain open throughout the local leagues and Palmer Cup, with the managment team confirming that any players showing form will be asked in to train with the panel.

The panel in full for the forthcoming league campaign is as follows:

Eoin Reilly, Stephen Reilly, Dayne Peacock (Abbeyleix), James Walsh (Ballinakill), Sean Lowry (Ballyfin), Brian Stapleton, Matthew Whelan, Neil Foyle (Borris-Kilcotton), Andrew Collier, Darrell Dooley, Gearoid Burke (Camross), Brendan Reddin, Paddy Mullaney (Castletown-Slieve Bloom), Danny Hanlon, Darren Maher, Willie Hyland, Mick McEvoy, Willie Dunphy, Stephen Maher (Clough-Ballacolla), Chris Murray (Colt), Mick Meade (Mountrath), Brian Smith, David O’Mahony, Tommy Fitzgerald (Portlaoise), Joe Fitzpatrick, Nathan Unwin (Rathdowney-Errill), Will Young (Rosenallis), Sean Bourke, John Brophy, Conor Dunne, Brian Dunne, Barry Dunne (The Harps)
