The girls of Emo NS kept up the school’s incredible run of success in the Allianz Division 1, as they saw off The Heath last Thursday morning.
They did all of their damage in the first half when, with the wind at their backs, they opened up a 1-6 to 0-1 lead.
The Heath came back at them in the second half, and even kept Emo scoreless after half time, but the Emo defence kept The Heath at bay. They refused to let them in for a goal, and that was the key for them.
Ava O’Connor got Emo of the ideal start when she found the net in the second minute to get her team up and running. Grainne O’Reilly then added two points, one from a free and one from play, as Emo lead by five after ten minutes.
The Heath opened their account thanks to a Grace Salmon free, but that would be their only score of the half as Emo pressed home their dominance.
Grainne O’Reilly added her third point of the game, and then Molly McCormack curled over a lovely score a few minutes later.
Laura Whelan got in on the act with a nice point before Grainne O’Reilly’s free finished the scoring for the half, leaving Emo eight clear.
The Heath had plenty of ball in the second half, and opened the scoring with a point from the right wing by Anna Lalor.
Grace Salmon added another free and Sheena Moore made space for herself and pointed moments later.
They needed a goal, however, and they poured forward at every opportunity to get the score they needed. The Emo defence refused to give them any easy chances though, as they claimed a four point win.
