The Boys Division 9 Final between St Fiacc’s B and Ballyadams B was a titanic struggle with little to chose between the sides over the course of the 40 minutes.

In the end it was three goals in the second-half that settled the game in favour of the Graiguecullen side.

Both sides were very strong at the back with Klaudius Gorka outstanding for St Fiacc’s while Eanna Maher pulled off a host of good saves in the Ballyadams goal including one early from Cori Byrne.

Eric Byrne opened the scoring for Ballyadams with Ivan Jones equalising for St Fiacc’s soon after. Points from Jordan Langton and Eric Byrne edged Ballyadams ahead but St Fiacc’s took the lead before the break with three unanswered points from John O’Shea, Cori Byrne and Cillian O’Reilly.

Ballyadmas jumped back into the lead early in the second-half with a superbly taken goal on the run from Ronan Weston. The lead didn’t last long however as St Fiacc’s hit back with a goal of their own through Ivan Jones.

A point from John O’Shea extended the lead to two but they had goalkeeper James Cowen to thank for maintaining their lead as he pulled off a fine double save.

St Fiacc’s took advantage at the other end with two goals, one apiece from Cori Byrne and Mikey Salter Scully, as they jumped into an eight point lead.

John O’Shea added a point to their total but Ballyadams kept piling forward in a desperate attempt to rescue.

While they did get a second goal, Ronan Weston finishing the rebound after another save from James Cowen, time was against them and St Fiacc’s held on for the win.
