Ballyfin Ladies Football Club held their 2014 Presentation Night on Friday, December 12 in The Deadman’s Inn.
It was an extremely memorable night with a huge crowd supporting the club’s celebration of their very first success at county level.
The night started with an enticing slide show featuring some exciting photos from the girls’ outings and games during the year. A free Fun Table Quiz ensued. The young ladies and their families had great fun and frustration battling with the quiz questions. The dingbat round really brought out the thinking caps.
Congratulations to the outright winners, a combination of the Meade and Horgan families and to all the other prize winners and participants.
The quiz was followed by the presentations, where the very Special Guest, the brilliant Laois Ladies Football Star, Tracey Lawlor, did the honours. Tracey gave a lovely speech where she congratulated the girls and the club on their success. She also gave great encouragement to all our girls, stressing the importance of commitment and belief in themselves.
Tracey first presented medals to our youngest players the U-8 team. This was followed by a presentation to our U-10 team. Then came, the main event, the presentation of the, U-12 County A League medals to the U-12 team. To great cheer, each girl had her photo taken with Tracey, while been presented with their medal. This was followed by a team photo with Tracey, the U-12 Trainers and the Laois U-12 A League Champions Cup. A proud moment, for them all.
Tea followed, accompanied by a delightful selection of sandwiched, buns, cakes, and lots more. All complement of the girls’ hardworking and generous parents. A, huge thanks to you all. Everything was delicious. Many thanks, to the extremely busy mothers, who handled the catering for us.
The night concluded with Club Chairman, Timmy Heffernan, addressing everyone and thanking them for the huge support not just on the night, but throughout the year. He thanked Tracey for presenting the medals and conveyed the club’s best wishes to her for the future.
He congratulated all medal winners and thanked all players for their commitment and courage during the year, expressing that next year the club headed into uncharted waters by joining the rank of senior clubs, as they will be fielding a Junior Football team, for the very first time. He thanked Peter and Damien for the use of the function room and the meeting room in the Deadmans Inn during the year.
Timmy praised the club’s hard working committee and everyone who helped out at training, refereeing, and at other times during the year. He rounded up a most enjoyable night by wishing everyone, on behalf of Ballyfin Ladies Football Club, a very Happy Christmas and the very best of wishes for 2015.
