Borris-Kilcotton and Clough-Ballacolla will contest the final of the 2012 Palmer Cup after the pairing was confirmed following the final round of games over the weekend.
Borris-Kilcotton cruised to a comprehensive 17 point win over Castletown-Slieve Bloom on Sunday thanks to a fine team performance. They had ten different scorers over the course of the game and were far too strong for a depleted Castletown-Slieve Bloom.
It has been a difficult start to the season for Joe Errity’s side, but having struggled with injuries, emigration and exams over the course of the Palmer Cup, they will be hoping for an upturn in fortunes later in the year.
It was a mixed week for Abbeyleix, as they lost out to Rathdowney-Errill eight days ago in a re-fixed game. Rathdowney-Errill were obviously in no mood for back-to-back defeats after losing to Ballyfin a few days beforehand, and they ruthlessly disposed of Abbeyleix by almost twenty points.
On Friday night, however, Abbeyleix bounced back against Ballyfin, who were missing JJ McHugh, to win by five points, 1-13 to 1-8, with Dan Shanahan getting the goal.
In the other game played over the weeeknd, reigning champions The Harps had the dead-eye accuracy fo Michael Lanigan to than as he guided them to a 1-11 to 1-8 win over Camross.
