The Harps Camogie team picked themselves up after their recent county final defeat to win the Clane 7 aside cup competition.

The girls played and defeated Camross, Killimor (Galway), Naomh Eanna (Dublin) and hosts Clane (Kildare). They were defeated by Duffry Rovers (Wexford) but their previous victories against the other teams meant the Harps girls were through to the final to meet the Wexford camogie queens once again.

The girls learned from their earlier meeting with the Wexford side and dominated the game from start to finish and had six points to spare at the final whistle. Caitriona Phelan accepted the cup on behalf of the team with each girl receiving individual trophies.

The Harps are the first Laois team to win the Cup competition. Duffry Rovers and Wexford county player Deirdre Codd was awarded player of the tournament. The ten girls who played and put in a great displsy all day were: Theresa Bennett, Joan Dollard, Caitriona Phelan, Denise Quigley, Laura Mahony, Louise Mahony, Elaine Mahony, Angela Hanlon, Joanne Prior and Rosie Phelan. Well done girls and to Sean, Tom, Gerry and Anne for traveling on the day.
