Minor footballers set for opener this Saturday night

The Laois minor footballer will make the arduous trip to Aughrim, never the most hospitable of venues for Laois teams, this Saturday night for their opener in the Leinster MFC.

Wicklow provide the opposition for the 7pm throw in, as George Doyle and his management team begin their bid to see Laois claim a first provincial minor title since 2007.

The team went undefeated through the Leinster MFL despite struggling with a number of key personnel out injured, but will need to step things up another gear this weekend.

There are a number of players still involved from last year, with Paul Kingston, who was a key player for the St Joseph’s-Barrowhouse U-21 championship winning team last year, likely to lead the attack.
