Killeshin ensured they would not be making an immediate return to the intermediate ranks as a late rally secured a five point win over a poor Heath side.
Laois Senior Football Championship
The Heath 0-6
Shane Lowry’s goal with two minutes remaining capped off their victory, and a late point from Niall Brennan was the icing on the proverbial cake. The ambitious club that they are, they will be looking to progress to bigger and better things after this, but for the losers, they should be very concerned.
The Heath never scored in the second half, and no forward scored from play. The frequency with which they struggled with even the most basic skills of the game was alarming for a senior team, and on multiple occasions players failed to even pick the ball up off the ground. Along with that, they never really got behind the Killeshin defence, their passing was poor and with two of their defenders, Aidan Bergin and Alan Whelan, hitting four of their six points, they need to start getting a lot more out of their players from midfield forward.
