It was all too easy for St. Fintan’s Mountrath as they disposed of Park-Ratheniska in the opening Group A game of this year’s Intermediate Hurling Championship in Rathdowney on Friday night.

Laois IHC Round 1

Mountrath 2-18

Park-Ratheniska 0-7

The beaten Ratheniska men managed just two points from play in a subdued performance and they will have to regroup in readiness for their win or bust clash with Clonaslee St Manman’s in three weeks time.

After a sluggish start that five saw scoreless minutes limp by St.Fintan’s hit the front in emphatic fashion through a fine Dan Russell goal and they never looked back from that point on.

Ahead 2-9 to 0-3 at the break, it was as good as over as a contest and the second-half offered little respite for Ratheniska as St Fintan’s continued to pour forward and pick off a string of fine scores.
