SHC Round 1

Rathdowney-Errill 4-15

Abbeyleix 1-7

The 2010 champions were at their ease for most of the game, as a very young Abbeyleix side struggled against the strength and experience Rathdowney-Errill had at their disposal.

If the defeat wasn’t bad enough for them too, it was compounded by a serious leg injury to Dayne Peacock, which saw the game held up for over seven minutes in the first half. He was eventually stretched off and looks unlikely to feature again this year.

For Rathdowney-Errill, they will be pleased to have gotten the win under their belts, but will know well that much stiffer challenges lie ahead. They were wasteful at times here as well, and further down the line they could be punished more severely for that.
