The people of Laois have sent out a loud and clear message to the HSE and Minister for Health that they will not let the county's hospital be singled out for downgrade without a fight.
Between 800 and 1,000 people turned up at a spontaneously organised meeting in Portlaoise last week to make their views known on a plan that would see a scalpel taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise.
