The IFA is hosting a solar energy seminar in the Killeshin Hotel, Portlaoise today (Thursday, July 14) at 2pm.

With over 6,000 acres of farmland currently under a solar contract and sufficient grid connection applications to power over one-million homes, the IFA seminar will highlight the need for greater policy certainty from Government regarding REFIT tariffs and increased community participation in future renewable energy projects.

The seminar will also provide legal and tax guidance for farmers who have been approached by development companies.

The seminar will hear from tax expert Declan McEvoy of IFAC Accountants, solicitor James Staines from Kennedys, Bob Hanna from the Department of Energy and representatives from the ESB, Tipperary Energy Agency and the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland.
