People in Laois have just been given free access to a big bank of information on health outcomes and services.

The Institute of Public Health in Ireland (IPH) recently launched an online tool and smartphone App which provide access to health-related data that have been compiled for every local authority area in the Ireland.

The redeveloped IPH Community Profiles Tool (CPT) available on the web (at http://www.thehealthwell.info/community-profiles/) makes a wealth of health-related data available to all interested in public health with just a few clicks.

In addition, the recently launched IPH Community Profiles Tool App for smartphones and tablets can be downloaded free of charge – the App is available for both iOS and Android smartphones tablets – from the Apple Store and Google Play Store.

Both the online tool and the App contain over 200 local health-related indicators compiled from a range of data sources such as government departments and statistical agencies. The indicators are grouped into a number of themes such as Obesity, Diabetes, Mental Health, Early Years and Older Persons.
