Council to spend €4.2m on 20 new Port houses

The cost of solving the housing shortage is revealed in price of building 20 new houses in Portarlington.

The Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government has issued Stage 1 Approval for the project on the Ballymorris Road.

Laois TD and Minister Charlie Flanagan welcomed the move.

“This is good news for the area and the people of Portarlington. It is planned that twenty new housing units comprising of two bedroom and three bedroom houses will be built at a total cost of €4,296,756,” he said.

He said he is committed to ensuring that as a result of the Goernment's housing plan everyone in Laois will have access to quality and affordable housing. He commended Laois County Council on working with the Department on Port houses.
