Shoes and handbags wanted for charity night out

Shoes and handbags wanted for charity night out

Those shoes that were too high, too tight, or just too good a bargain, and now sit forlorn and forgotten in wardrobes around Laois, can now be happily rehomed thanks to a charity shoe and handbag sale.

Portlaoise resident Aisling Maher is asking ladies to donate to a sale she will hold as part of a big 'Girls Night Out for the Irish Heart Foundation', in the Woodford Dolmen Hotel Carlow, where she works.

Ladies' shoes and handbags can be left into Portlaoise Parish Centre up to Friday September 23.

“I was trying to think of how to raise money for the Irish Heart Foundation. I'm a big handbag and shoes person so I thought why not,” Aisling explained.

She is busy sorting and pricing the shoes and bags that have already come in.

“We are getting some beautiful donations, everything from Nine West shoes to wedding shoes, and ones from Penneys never worn. They will all be priced very reasonably on the night as the object is to sell them all and raise money for the IHF,” Aisling explained.

She chose the charity because her family have been affected by heart disease.

“My dad had two heart attacks, and my mother-in-law also had a heart attack. It is close to all our hearts. My sister is about to run the New York marathon for the IHF too, so I said I'd do something too,” she said.

Her 'Girls Night Out' will be on Friday October 7, with the fun kicking off at 7pm.

There will be plenty of fashion and beauty tips in store, as well as raffle prizes.

“There will be prosecco on arrival. Our compere is Sara Kehoe a fashion and lifestyle blogger.

She will have great tips on where the best shops are in Carlow and Laois, and advice on what to wear this autumn and winter and for Christmas parties,” said Aisling.

“Stockholm beauty will be doing hair and make-up demonstrations, showing how to do quick and easy upstyles, how to create HD eyebrows, and apply eyelashes and fake tan,” Aisling said.
